Driving Force

See also  - L I A. is a Good Year

Our son was ill, brain disorder
His seizures weren't that bad,
Still hindered him from living life
Like any other lad.

At twenty two, he'd still no car,
Still travelling on the bus,
His older siblings all could drive,
As could the two of us.

He longed for independence great,
A bicycle he'd ride,
And though it only had two wheels,
It kept him satisfied.

But then one night he had a dream,
Was driving far and near,
The licence number "LIA"
For him "was a good year".

Now fifteen years have passed him by,
His seizures disappeared,
The day he passed his driving test,
How mum and I both cheered.

  1. The licence plate LIA denotes the year the car was built in a certain part of Britain.

Christmas Past

Gifts of gold, incense and myrrh For that baby lying there Were not gifts without much thought, Significant references, they brought. GOLD , for riches of a king, Of properties e'erlasting ring, To celebrate the Kingly birth, Who came as man upon the earth. FRANKINCENSE came from the east For th'annointing of a priest, This babe, a Prophet, Priest and King, Eternal life for all to bring. MYRRH was given, though bitter it's taste, Preparing for the death to be faced, The purpose of His life, - the Cross, To save the world from eternal loss. The media bombard with ads., Pushing forth the latest fads, The parents now seem under stress, They're spending more, though giving less. Oh to live in bygone days Though cash was scarce, with less in pays, The children, then, were quite content And knew what Christmas really meant

Respiration

Sitting in the hospital  Well, sitting up, on bed, I had smoke inhalation,  The paramedics said. I'm just up for a check up, I feel fine, otherwise, I'm trying really hard not to Sing " smoke got in my eyes" A stove fire in the kitchen So glad " fire blanket" had,  Know not what will be damaged Trusting it's not THAT bad. Think paramedics, cautious, A full lung check to give, T'ensure I will keep breathing,   Essential, that,  to live. Liz didn't breathe as much smoke, Thought not, I'd breathed a lot, 'Tis best though, to be cautious, Than later on, be caught. Been told that it's not too bad, Be getting home anon, Though puffer, medication, For while, putting me on.
